Many Bible characters exhibited courage in the face of great adversity. This is one of the factors that Jesus found so admirable in John the Baptist, especially his confrontation of sin. We need his courage today as we face some of the evils in our society.

Humility is a fleeting attribute. Its opposite - pride - was Eve's downfall in the Garden of Eden. She wanted to be like God. Pride has been the downfall of so many since then. John the Baptist brought genuine humility as one preparing the way for someone greater.

No one received higher praise from Jesus than John the Baptist. He was not afraid to live a life that was different from others while he fulfilled God's call upon his life. We are not to be spiritual clones. We must be true to ourselves and to God's revealed standards.

The command to honor Mom is given in both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible. This honor is expressed in different ways throughout your life and hers.

Most everyone believes they are going to heaven when they die, regardless of what they believe. Why did God create Hell and who will be there?

Are there many roads to salvation or is Jesus the only road? As the United States becomes more and more saturated with other viewpoints and less knowledgeable of the Bible, this question will be asked more and more. How do you answer those that ask?

Most people have an opinion about our origins on this planet. Some think that the creation account in the Bible is the answer. Others think evolution has the answers. And still others try to blend the two in major or minor ways. Can we intelligently believe the creation account found in Genesis?

When we hurt we don't want to reflect on the significance of our pain; we just want it to go away. Suffering is one of the things we all have in common. It is no respecter of person, position, or spiritual belief. In this message we'll see where God pulls back the curtain for us to see His perspective on our suffering.

Victories are made to be celebrated, and this one can't be beat. Jesus would say that this day's events made the journey all worthwhile. This is the ultimate victory!

Some in the group got some rest that night, just not Jesus. It very well could have been His toughest night on this earth.

Jesus was labeled a friend of sinners. He wasn't trying to say that behavior doesn't matter. He just wants us to know that God isn't impressed by our behavior. He is much more interested in our response to His grace.

God is always present. He is not confined to just one location at any one time like we are. We can worship Him in first person anywhere and He is always available to help us in time of need. This is true help.

God knows every detail about the world He created and that includes you and me. Our knowledge is so limited compared to His. It's important to understand whose knowledge is guiding your life.

This attribute of God is emphasized frequently in the Bible. This is not just a description of the God of Bible times, but a description of the God of all times. He has the power to work out all of His plans and wants us to be included in them.

Scripture tells us that wide is the road that leads to destruction. Whether we like it or not, most people just won't accept Christ's invitation. They like the idea of heaven. They like the miracles. They like the bread. They like the free show. They like the excitement. But when Jesus offers Himself, they aren't interested. When everything else is removed, is He enough? A committed follower of Jesus refuses to leave His side no matter what the circumstances. Is Jesus alone enough for you?

God's Word provides both guidance and commandments. Those commandments and laws are there to protect us. If we are honest, none of us have followed these laws perfectly. All of us have fallen short. It is only through God's grace that we can be free from our sin. In the end, the grace and the love of God frees us and inspires us to live for Him. When we love God, we will want to please Him. This is the priority that drives our lives. It is also our responsibility as committed followers of Jesus to share the grace of Jesus with those around us that have not come to know Him. Instead of judging them, we need to model Jesus' grace to them.

Most of our daily choices are determined by comfort. When we can, we choose comfort. When we look at Scripture and the teaching of Jesus, we see that committed followers of Jesus are called out of comfort and into the trenches to live as Jesus lived. Committed followers of Jesus will trade their place of comfort for a place of self-sacrifice in the name of Jesus. What will you choose?

In every friendship or relationship there must be a level of intimacy. Intimacy happens when you choose to let another person know who you are. Intimacy can only take place when communication occurs. The best friendships will fail when the two people stop sharing and communicating with each other. Does your relationship with Jesus have a growing level of intimacy? Jesus wants to know you, but you must allow it. Will you embrace the close and intimate relationship He wants to have with you?

Advertising leads us to believe that anyone can take advantage of their offers. But the fine print strictly spells out the limitations and this offer isn't really for anyone. There's always a catch. Jesus' invitation to come to Him is truly for anyone. You don't have to be rich, you do not have to be the smartest at the table, and you do not have to be perfect. If you choose to accept His invitation to follow, He desires you to follow Him in everything.

The word fan is defined as "an enthusiastic admirer". We're all fans of different things. Many of us are sports fans. We watch the games. We cheer on the team. Some of us own the jerseys of our favorite players. We understand the concept of being a fan of sports. When we look at Scripture we can see that Jesus calls us to be more than one of His fans, He wants us to be His follower.
