Before David became king, he had to deal with an authority that made his life very difficult. He had to wait more than twelve years from the time of his anointing to the time he was appointed king. David's example shows us ways to respond to the authorities in our lives.

We accept a shallow understanding of love too easily. God calls a husband and wife to unconditional love; without it a marriage will never be as fulfilling as God intends.

Moses chose to be aligned with God and His people even when other paths are easier. You will show your allegiance this year, whether to God and His people or to human reason and cultural drift.

Abraham is a great lesson for us in waiting for God. There are times to move decisively, and other times to wait until God is ready.

Noah's faith in God led him to work hard for God. Diligent work for God pleases Him. Will you work hard for God this year?

Not much is written of Enoch, but God smiled on him due to the nature of his walk with God. How will you walk with God this year, and will He be pleased?

A simple herdsman, Abel, brought a more acceptable gift of worship to God than his brother. Will there be growth in your worship of God this year?

Mary had a lot of questions in raising the Son of God, and He was her first child! Can you relate to feelings of uncertainty?

Not everyone will share your joys or understand what you're going through. We learn much from Mary about waiting on God.

The difficulties Mary faced in her future would be enough to take the song from many of us. But she chose to rejoice, which I find amazing.

Few passages in the Bible are better known than Psalm 23. The beautiful, meaning-packed phrases in this psalm have offered more comfort, calmed more fears, and pointed more people to the Shepherd than any other poetry ever written. Do you appreciate your Good Shepherd and His commitment to walk with you always through this life?

You can see the passage on poster board in pertinent places wherever there is a crowd, and you smile knowingly at the truth of those words. You may even be able to quote the passage. But does the passage change the way you face life every day, and can you share its profound truth with searching people you encounter most days?

We are to be wise managers of the things we receive. When we do we please God, bring stability to our families, solidify our witness, and bring contentment to our lives.

God warns us about adopting the prevailing attitudes of our culture toward money. We are to make a conscious effort to follow God's counsel.

We live in the United States and follow the laws of our land. But as Christians our highest allegiance is to God, for we are part of His family and His kingdom. Strive to live in this reality every day.

Following Jesus doesn't remove temptations from us. So often things that tempt us seem to have our number. How do we find more victory in the realm of our weaknesses?

Forgiven...it's a treasured word to a follower of Jesus. We live in it and we practice it on a daily basis.

Prayer expresses our hearts: are we the subject or the subjects? Who do we live to please?

Praying begins with an awareness of the One we are speaking to. Everything we say in a prayer is impacted by our understanding of God.

We don't all have jobs in which we get to choose our coworkers. Most of us have fellow employees that are self-absorbed and/or unwilling to carry their load. What is a Christian in this situation to do?
