Why is making disciples so difficult? What are the challenges we face or create? Troubles existed well before our generation.

Jesus set the priority of the church before He returned to heaven. This is easy to lose in a multitude of other tasks. The most important tasks the church can do are those that only the church can do. Since we cannot do everything, we must do first and best that which no one else can do - lead people to Jesus and nurture them in Him.

As we look at God's Word we see His desire for His children to treat each other with honor and respect. Today, as we conclude our parenting series, we look at the important role that parents play in teaching their children the values of respect and honor. When we look at Scripture we see God instructing parents to teach these important values to their children. While others help with this, parents must understand that they place the primary imprint on their child's life.

Parenting is best entered through prayer and a desire to do God's will above all things. God gives several considerations to those who want to be parents.

Much attention is given to parenting our children; not so much to caring for our parents as they age and need more help. God provides some principles to help the children and grandchildren in this area of need.

There is confusion for many regarding prayer. Why does it seem to work better in some situations than others? Doesn't God already know what I need? Prayer is a vital and powerful connection we have with God. Let's do it!

Moral values that once seemed certain are now coming loose. God through His Bible gives us certain moral standards that do not change.

When a person dies, can they really live again? Death is certain for us all unless we are present at the second coming of Jesus Christ to earth. The Bible prepares us to face the certainty of life after death.

How do we know the Bible is true? Is it a reliable guide for life now and in the future? We will look at solid reasons why the Bible is true.

Is there a God or is there not? This is the question of our age. Are we accountable to God or are we not? our faith in God is based on good evidence and sound logic.

There is always a danger of drifting away from things of importance. It is a challenge for us to keep the intensity needed to maintain a diet, to exercise, or to keep boundaries that protect our time, for example. This Hebrews passage helps us to maintain our walk with Jesus in a world that wants to pull us away from Him.

For the most part we are not contented people. We complain about so many things; and Christians are not immune. From a guy who had learned to be content in every situation, we need to perk up and listen to him.

Every one of us here needs a second chance, or a twelfth chance, or a 112th chance after we have failed God. Note here what allowed Peter to move forward and be useful to God after failing Him.

All of us have been through times when things that once excited us become humdrum at best. This happens even with the most important things. What are we to do at times like this?

As God's people we hold a great deal of responsibility for the welfare of our country. We are unaccustomed to see ourselves in this realm of responsibility. We usually find others to blame. But there is always a correlation between the character of God's people and the strength of the nation in which they are living.

So much of how we see the world begins in how we see ourselves. Our world is filled with people who either think too much of themselves or too little of themselves. Romans 12 opens with a call to allow God to initiate and maintain a life-giving view of self.

Early in his ministry, John the Baptist had proclaimed that Jesus was the Messiah, the special Lamb of God. But later he faced some honest doubts about Jesus' identity. Let's learn from John that an honest inquiry can actually reinforce our faith.

What is your consuming passion? What do you value more than yourself? John's dedication to Christ cost him his freedom and then his life. His intensity serves as an inspiration for us to serve Jesus with our all.
