God is not interested in deeds of darkness because these are contrary to his very nature. The Bible says God is light and Jesus is the light of the world. Christians are called children of light. Just as the lampstand in the tabernacle gave light, we are to do the same.

Showbread literally means "bread of the face" or "presence bread". There is someone's presence that God enjoys. Can you guess whom?

God was very particular about the incense burned on His altar in the Most Holy Place in the tabernacle. The incense symbolized prayer - something God knows is to be treasured.

Most people would say there's not much to a tent. But God didn't design the tent they are thinking about. Several seemingly insignificant things made God's tent pretty special and teaches a valuable lesson about our Savior.

Not enough is said about finishing well in life. One man said, "Maturity is the ability to stay with a resolution long after the mood in which the resolution was made has left."

Success can change people like nothing else. There is plenty of evidence that not many can maintain their balance when they prosper.

The old saying is that every cloud has a silver lining, but what if all you continue to see are clouds? The few bright spots for Joseph were soon taken from him. How does one handle ongoing discouragement?

Sometimes we get singled out for another person's agenda. We may not understand the reason, but it comes anyway. Joseph found himself in this position and soon lost all the freedoms he had come to know.

Sometimes we suffer from our family's poor decisions and we can't change what happens next. This is what happened to Joseph and he was left to make the most of his situation, as difficult as it was.

Few things influence us as much in life as our family. This influence can be positive or negative. What we do with this influence as we mature is crucial.

Jesus has the authority to bring wholeness, prosperity, health, safety, and harmony into our lives in the truest sense.

This seems like a confusing title for the Son of God. Isaiah says that this baby will grow and be called the eternal father. Jesus Christ was the physical embodiment of God. He will never stop taking care of you and providing for you.

We take pride in being self-sufficient. We think we can manage life on our own. The more we read the Bible, the more we realize that we truly need a God of power who has no equal.

In the Hebrew language, the original language of this verse, Jesus is described as an advisor, guide, or counselor that is amazing beyond understanding or description. Have you had times when you just wanted someone to advise you that you were certain knew what they were talking about? Today, let's rediscover the Jesus described here.

All of us have been through times when we longed for a friend. Friendship is normally a wonderful gift. Unfortunately, promising friendships can sour over disagreements and misunderstandings. The friendship of Paul and Barnabas started strong, but came unglued in a heated disagreement. Let's learn from them.

All Christians need some friends who are also Christ followers. We are to build friendships with those outside of Christ, but we also need friends who understand the new life in Christ and encourage us in this life. These men reveal one of the values of such friendships.

We all have casual friends - people you enjoy being with on a semi-regular basis. Then there are close friends - people we spend regular time with, people who have refrigerator privileges in our homes, who know what makes us tick. When in need, these are the people we call. Old Testament characters David and Jonathan were very close friends. From them we learn about how to develop close friendships.

Two struggling widows became unlikely friends. Their friendship reminds us that God cares for ordinary people in difficult circumstances to bring fulfillment to their lives.

This week we will look at some helps in sharing simple messages with others about our life with Jesus.

Things that proved effective in the first century church to make disciples often still find success today. What can we learn from our predecessors about connecting people with Jesus today?
