Figuring out your motivation behind your actions. • I know I have time but I still am not able to make everything fit. What should I do? • My job increasingly feels like a means to an end. He brings these individuals together on an annual basis and has done since 2003 in the form of the MEFIT Summit, a 3 day event held in Dubai on 14,15,16th November open to fitness professionals and the general public. I first met Greg in 2000 shortly after he arrived in Dubai and he has always been a benchmark of the industry here through his company MEFIT. #572: "Strength is your capacity to live the life you choose with force of will" with Chris Duffin
24/10/2019 Duração: 46minChris Duffin was born and grew up homeless in the Pacific Northwest wilderness. He was raised in an abusive and chaotic household where his childhood was composed of skinning rattlesnakes, foraging for food, and protecting his sisters and mother. In high school, he was a star athlete and straight-A student who earned a full ride to college where he graduated at the top of his class. He did this while working full-time and taking care of his 3 younger sisters who he had taken custody of because he couldn't stand to see them live in such a toxic and violent environment. Chris worked his way up the ladder and became a corporate executive in the aerospace, automotive, and high-tech manufacturing industry. In 2014 he quit his career to start Kabuki Strength, an organization that stands on 4 pillars: strength equipment, education, coaching, and charity. During a long and tenured powerlifting career, Chris held numerous all-time world records and became one of the strongest pound-for-pound powerlifters in the wor

#570: Kona Special with Tom Walker
17/10/2019 Duração: 44min“The Big Dance on the Big Island” as it is known to many took place last weekend in Kona Hawaii but what actually is it. For some it is the pinnacle of their career, for others a place they dream to one day reach. Every October the world Ironman championships are held on the Island of Kona, the birthplace of this grueling endurance event which constitutes a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and then a 42.2km run. Some people have deemed Ironman distance triathlon the ultimate test of human endurance and it was with that in mind that this lethal combination of disciplines and distances was born as a few mates each representing the different disciplines argues who in fact was the fittest or best endurance athlete. In this show I chat to our resident endurance coach about this years event, how it panned out, why the island of Kona is so magical and the fact that we saw a world record tumble at the race this weekend. There is something truly amazing about this sport in that the professionals and amateurs race in the s

10/10/2019 Duração: 49minIn his own words Ben Blowes is just a “roof tiler” from New Market however as the show goes on you will realise that Ben is actually quite a lot more than that. He is a truly unique nature and a unique mindset to go with it. Softly spoken he talks about sub 3 hour marathons as the norm and his marathon with a 25kg tumble dryer on his back to land him a world record will have you thinking what he is made of. Ben talks us through how his whole life changed when he got into health and fitness and explains how at 47 he doesn’t know how he could be more content with where he is at.Not only an athlete Ben is also a coach and for a number of years held the position of head coach for Cambridge University boxing team working with some incredible academics as well as athletes. #566: The CrossFit Games Experience with Carmen Bosmans
03/10/2019 Duração: 44minFor those of you that listened to #547 you heard all about Boz heading out to the CrossFit Games and in doing so fulfilling one of her childhood dreams. Well she is now back on home soil and in this show Tom and I catch up with her and talk all about her experience, feelings and future goals.Recently I had Morning Chalk Up founder Justin LoFranco on the show who spoke super openly about the games and what they had printed on their site. It was great in this show to get to hear it from Boz as an athlete. What are your thoughts are fitness enthusiasts? Is the CrossFit games a true test of fitness? Should the events be published in advance and should they follow the same format each year. As Boz told us on this show “the cream always rises to the top” as Tia and Matt won and no one disputes they are the best. This is a topic which I am sure will be debated for years to come!

29/09/2019 Duração: 15minDo I need a heart rate monitor and GPS watch is a question we are getting increasingly asked. In this show we dive into the various uses of these devices, their pros and also their cons. Personally I have had a heart rate monitor since Polar launched the Polar Favor when I was about 13. I have used devices from various brands over the years and recently moved over (or back) to Suunto as my device of choice and the Baro 9 with its mind blowing a never before seen 100 hours of GPS time.

#563: Stop making excuses
22/09/2019 Duração: 10minJust what the title says though right? Please action it! Well that is the short intro to this show. The longer one is to ask you to think about how many excuses you make and hear in a single day of your life? Do a quick test for one day please, every time you say something to someone do you make an excuse where actually you do not need to say anything? Why are we doing this though? What are we looking for here? In this short show I try and pack a few ideas on this topic whist giving you reasons to be “cool” with yourself first and creating honesty within, if you get that then I am sure you will make less excuses and tolerate less incoming excuses too. Enjoy the show

#562: “Believe in yourself” with 5 time Marathon Des Sables Runner Susie Chan
19/09/2019 Duração: 43minSusie Chan only started running in her early 30’s as she entered a half marathon with her brother. Since then she has completed 5 Marathon Des Sables as well as a number of other ultras, however as she tells us in this show she runs anything from 1 mile to 100 and as you will find out she does it for the love of running and the love of nature. Still smoking in 2011 Susie has not always been into running and in this show we dig into some of her motivations and have a great discussion about how and why people get into running, what people can expect and all the great things that come with it. #561: "No d**k heads" with Jamie Clarke
15/09/2019 Duração: 18minFor those of you that come to InnerFight you will probably have been coached by “Clarkie”, but for those of you that don’t it is time the world heard from him. Originating from New Zealand Jamie has live in the region for the last 10 years and has a super cool story and relationship with InnerFight as he started as a member, went through our internship program, started handling our on boarding process and now essentially runs the show here! It is no surprise that a lot of Jamies personality traits are similar to that of his home countries famous rugby team the All Blacks but in this show Jamie shares some of his heritage with us, talks about his upbringing in sport, his “career” in the hospitality industry and one of his rules for life “just be a good person”or better put as “No D**k heads” Enjoy the show. #560: Talking "The Carnivore Diet" with 2010 Ironman World Champion Pete Jacobs
12/09/2019 Duração: 01h06minSome of you may remember the name "Pete Jacobs” either from episode #468 of the InnerFight podcast back in October last year or from when he won the world Ironman championships in Kona in 2012. When we spoke to Pete in 2018 he talked about coming back to triathlon but only when he was fully healthy. In this show Pete takes us on his journey of what essentially has been a number of years of his body not working optimally, him not feeling great all the time and some quite major struggles. Pete talks us through various eating methods that he has tried and tested to try and aid his auto immune disease and we spend a good chunk of this shoe on where he is at today with the Carnivore Diet. Listen as Pete talks us through eating up to 2kg of meat a day and nothing else. He is clearly super well read on the subject and gets nice and geeky for us in places. Possibly the best part of this show is where Pete shares his desire to get back to Kona and from the way he is and has been feeling with his recent adoption of t

#559: The open is coming with Ricci
08/09/2019 Duração: 16minThe 2020 CrossFit open is just around the corner so who better to sit down with in this weeks show and chat about it than the man himself Riccardo. The great lover of all things CrossFit. Ricci gives us his run down on why you should register for this event, the format of the 2020 seasons, what to expect, how to manage yourself and what to do over the next few weeks to get ready. The 2020 Open season starts on October 10th and we will be hosting the workouts at InnerFight every Saturday morning. There are once again 5 workouts in the open and this is the qualifying stage for the 2020 CrossFit games. We love the fact that this year CrossFit have brought back the affiliate leader board so we can see different gyms measure up against each other locally and globally.
