On the day after we celebrate our nation

Jesus was the person God sent who paid the price for our sins. But before His departure from earth, He promised a special helper who would come and live within us. God�"s Holy Spirit is this helper. He is not to be such a great mystery that we ignore Him or a figure in the shadows of life that we only call in when we can�"t handle things. He is a personal gift from our relational God who desires closeness with us and can make a huge difference in each of our lives.

The Bible uses prefix word "omni" to describe our God: omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscience (all-knowing), omnipresent (all-present), etc. He alone is truly "awesome." And yet, He strongly desires a close relationship with imperfect you and me.

Using a challenge worded by the Apostle Paul to another church family, let�"s set the bar for our walk with God this summer. This message will launch our summer series with a prayer that as we yield ourselves more fully to God, He will honor our heart�"s desire to be more in tune with what He knows is best.

"Memory-helpers" or memorials can be strange things, yet we find them throughout the Bible and in virtually every nation in history. We have a basic human tendency to forget important things, so we need memorials to stir our memory and our hearts.
