Grace is the way of the kingdom of God. It is the way we have been called to live and the way we distinguish ourselves as God’s people in the world.At PCBC, grace is the primary value that defines who we are, how we live, and the message we share through our church and in our daily lives. In this sermon series, we will focus on living and interacting in the life-changing grace of Jesus.

As we wrap up our Better series, the author of Hebrews invites us to remember that there is a newer and better kingdom replacing the kingdom of Israel. If following Jesus and living in his kingdom is the better way for us, then how do we live? How does my life change?This is what Hebrews 13 is all about: giving us a variety of instructions on how to live and make this kingdom present in our world today.

Discipline is not the path we want. We don’t want God to challenge us in our way of life – it’s uncomfortable. But God’s discipline is a reminder that Christ also suffered, that discipline is a sign of sonship, and discipline is for our good. It is this discipline that allows us to actually live the life that Christ wants for us, the path he designed us to walk on: one of peace with others, love for all, and fulfillment only in him.

Confidence is so important for us as believers. It’s something that is largely looked down upon, because so many of us find confidence in ourselves, our abilities, and our skills – but that doesn’t give us the kind of confidence we need. If we are insecure, we need to find our confidence in Christ and who he says we are.

We are given a new covenant by God through Jesus Christ. In fact, the old covenant was there to point to the new – it is a shadow of the things to come. The new covenant will place the Word of God in our hearts, the Word of God on our lips, and our sins will be forgotten by God.In this message, we'll read from Hebrews 8:1-13 and learn how Jesus is the better promise, the better covenant. 

In Hebrews 5:11-6:20, we see a warning passage regarding moving on from the basics of the faith and moving on to more important matters of being a disciple of Jesus. Following the warning, is a promise that God sees the effort we put in, he acknowledges our acts of service, and that this comes from an assurance of our relationship with Christ.This security comes from the idea that God has made promises not based on what we do, but rather what he has done for us. Jesus is the one who has made a way for us. Our security comes from what Christ has done, which then moves us to service.

Jesus is the builder of the house; Moses is merely the house. We are now being constructed and shaped into God’s house and the dwelling place of his Spirit.

In this message, we'll learn how we have access to a better family through Jesus. We are  subjected to Jesus as everything is made subject to him, but we aren’t just a part of his subjection. We are now a part of his family. He has been made like us, so that we might be made like him.
