The experience that one has in worship will largely impact whether they return to our church or not. It is important then, that our worship be the transformative and God-encountering experience that we all desire it to be. For that to happen, worship has to be a part of our lives; it has to invade our thoughts, our speech, and our hearts.

In order for us to be the kind of church that God desires, we must simultaneously put away the words and actions that do so much harm, owning them when we do, while also seeking to actively forgive people as Christ has forgiven us.

Part of being connected and unified with one another is speaking honestly and freely to one another. Jesus teaches us to have integrity by simply letting our yeses and nos be what they are (Matthew 5:37). How we speak to one another is a critical measurement of our love to one another.

In John 13:35, Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” There are 59 “one another” statements in the New Testament. As we seek Christ together in unity, in speech, in forgiveness, in worship, and in submitting to one another, we will distinguish ourselves as his disciples.

Our church was established to the glory of God and it remains a testimony of his grace to us. We now exist to pass the Gospel on to the next generation, by equipping them to live to the glory of God.

The Church is a community of exiles, sent into the world to invite others into the Story we find ourselves in – the big Story of God. Because we have been so transformed by the grace of God in Christ, and because of our love for him and his model for life, we serve others everywhere we go. We start in our homes, in our neighborhoods, and we go into our city and into the world. We live to being the kingdom of God here on earth, as it is in heaven.

Too many Christians are disturbed by the culture and don’t know what to do with their frustration. So how to live as “exiles in Babylon” – as dissident disciples who are wise, courageous, and bold in our love? We hold to truth and grace, even if it’s costly.Being a witness in this growing secular age means we are set apart, different, and we do not follow the way of the world, but instead, we follow the Way of Jesus. Following our King and living in his kingdom makes us distinctive disciples in the world. We stand out as salt and light as we live and love like Jesus. 

As followers of Christ, we are devoted to Scripture. The Bible – rightly interpreted with humility, through the lens of the heart and life of Jesus – is our authority. Jesus is perfect theology embodied and reveals to us what Scripture applied looks like in real life.Everything we do at PCBC is centered around God's Word; our preaching, teaching, connect groups and small groups, our Dwell reading plan, are all designed to help us be in the Word daily, to understand it, and apply it to our lives.

In 1939, the small group of believers who began Park Cities Baptist Church could never have dreamed what their church would become, nor the thousands of people their dream would impact for eternity. Yet they pressed forward, trusting God’s call, and launched a church without a pastor, without a building – simply dedicating it all to the glory of God and collecting their first offering for missions.Today we stand on their shoulders, declaring that there still ought to be a church right here, right now – uniquely gifted to serve our city, our community, and our world for generations to come.

Most of life happens in the day to day, mundane things: Carpools, laundry, bills, work, deadlines, homework, conversations, meals, and time with friends and family.As followers of Christ, we do normal things, like most people do, with a few dramatic differences. The distinct mark of the disciple is a life grounded in God’s grace, now abiding in Christ, constantly at home in his love. In John 15, Jesus describes this life in him that marks the life of his disciples. Living in constant communion with him allows us to be fully present in the moment.

Our failure does not disqualify us – the grace of God propels us into a new adventure with him as we tell others what he has done for us.
