Discipline is not the path we want. We don’t want God to challenge us in our way of life – it’s uncomfortable. But God’s discipline is a reminder that Christ also suffered, that discipline is a sign of sonship, and discipline is for our good. It is this discipline that allows us to actually live the life that Christ wants for us, the path he designed us to walk on: one of peace with others, love for all, and fulfillment only in him.
