Today we are kicking off a brand new series called Heroes of the Faith. And while these prominent characters from the Bible may not have super speed or the ability to fly, they still serve as heroes to many of us. At first glance it may seem like these individuals are untouchable--men and women on a higher plane of spirituality, closer to God than you and I could ever be. Today we are celebrating Pentecost Sunday. The Jews celebrate three primary annual feasts: The Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover), The Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. Pentecost is simply the Greek name for the Feast of Weeks which takes place 50 days after Passover. 'Pente' = fifty, and so we get Pentecost.
