Today we are celebrating Pentecost Sunday. The Jews celebrate three primary annual feasts: The Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover), The Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. Pentecost is simply the Greek name for the Feast of Weeks which takes place 50 days after Passover. 'Pente' = fifty, and so we get Pentecost. The reason we celebrate Pentecost is because it signifies the establishment of the church of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:1-4
