A Majestic Baby King has been born, and it’s time to share the news! But instead of sending angels to proclaim this arrival to the noble and elite, God chose a group of lowly shepherds to be the first to hear this good news. This week we’ll experience this story through the lens of the shepherds and explore the JOY that is found in worshiping a God who sees the unseen.

When the early followers of Jesus described the events surrounding the birth of Jesus, they called it really good news. Something had taken place in the outskirts of Bethlehem that changed the world as we know it. Join us as we take a fresh look at the Christmas event through the eyes of Joseph to discover this good news afresh. This good news still has the power to change your world.

We begin our advent series in the place of Israel right before Jesus arrived: in the dark. We listen to the prophets to remind us that as the people of God we can be certain God has brought light to dark places. As Christians, we need not be afraid of dark times because Christ has come.

We are all on the pursuit for peace in this wildly disordered world. In our pursuit, we cannot seem to find peace that lasts. What if God promised us a peace that is full, whole, and not circumstantial? Join us as we explore how to have the peace God promises us.

Jesus’ hope for his followers what that they would “love one another as I have loved you.” Learning to love each other in the way that Jesus has loved us is a lifetime’s work. And in our world of technological interconnection, we need a fresh perspective on friendship. What does it mean to be a friend in the way Jesus has asked us? What makes friendship in the church different from friendship in the world?

To be a Christian is to say, “Jesus is King.” This means Jesus becomes the dominant voice in our life, the one we follow, no matter the cost. The journey of giving up what we have for Christ is the journey of a “disciple,” or student of Jesus. Today, we will explore what it means to be a disciple among other disciples in Jesus’ kingdom.

Who is God? What is He like? How do you move from knowing about God to truly knowing Him personally? What is His Name? In this third installment of On the Mountain of God, God reveals: this is my name, “I AM.” Moses, in response to God’s call on his life, asks “Who am I?” Often our first response to the call of God on our life is feeling inadequate, unequipped and overwhelmed. “Who am I?” However, God reveals it is not about who you are or your abilities but who “I AM.”

Reverence is the proper response of worship before a Holy God. In A. W. Tozer’s classic work, Knowledge of the Holy, he writes, “Left to ourselves we tend to immediately to reduce God to manageable terms. We want to get Him where we can use Him, or at least know where He is when we need Him. We want a God we can in some measure control.” The American Church has lost its way because it has lost its high view of God. It is by grace that we tread on holy ground. We have reduced the Wholely Other One having access to the One who dwells in unapproachable light to a flippancy of “Jesus is my homeboy.”
