Wally Backman was an integral member of the 1986 World Series Champion New York Mets.  After his time with the Mets, Wally played for the Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Seattle Mariners.  Following his playing career, Wally used his teaching skills, as well as his abilities to get the most from his players and nurture their talent, as manager for various organizations at many levels.  Wally is a baseball lifer who loves putting on the uniform, going out on the field, and being useful to teams who can most use his services.  As of the time of this interview, Wally was enjoying time away from the game, but would gladly contemplate returning to the game to which he has dedicated his entire professional career.      Jonathan Lathrop and James Moore are tw
