Coral, Chris and Mike Three cool folks visit the Red Room, and tell tale of the inspiration, and drive to create. We sometimes feel the need to express, even when we don’t yet know what we want to say. For some, it’s volcanic, it’s an avalanche of content, and a dire need to pour it out and keep moving. There are some, for which it is like a ground swell, a tremor, that builds and becomes a tsunami. For some still, it is a quiet stream that in time will cut through the most grand mountains, and rock, and leaves an enduring mark. Finding that passion is something we’ve tried to do. Reflections From The Red Room-Born out of time and out of season We practiced the making of the Old Fashioned. We talked out our feelings on the era in which we were born. Kyle has an old soul, and Natalie wished she could get a new Type O Negative album, and Justin has found balance between nostalgia and modern media joys. We hit the DC/Marvel thing, and question the validity of reviews and get to wonder where the line is between having a bias and can one review without prejudice ? We wanted to record on significant date. We wanted to embrace the spooky. We thought what fun to record on October 13th, a Friday the 13th. We paid the price. Pretty sure this one got haunted. There is static, pops, and some weird delay, and echo. In spite of all that, this one was full of great content; laughs, and insight, observations, and reactions. If audio quirks bug ya, and honestly, they make me crazy, then this episode may be too aggravating. The conversation within however, might just be worth it. Dan is welcomed into the Red Room to give us his take and observations on this year’s summer movies. We dive into his origins as a comic book fan, and open up a can of worms when it comes to where the current crop of blockbuster super hero movies are ultimately going. We chat about our picks for which hero we wish would happen next in cinema, and the state comic heroes on television. We stray from time to time but overall its a good talk about movies and we’ll check in with Dan again, with so many great movies on the horizon, we will have lots to say. Guillermo and I talk Episodes 5,6, & 7 of Twin Peaks: The Return. We don't go episode by episode, we are still talking impressions and theory. We let the Lynchian beauty, and horror, wash over us, as it were. There are questions of time, ties to Norse lore, musings of final show downs, and curiosities of cameo-or-long-term-role that we bat around. We are caught up in the appreciation of the Return and while this edition was recorded way back, unsurprisingly, we really haven't come in to more answers, even though we are further along (episode 13 as of this writing) now. Resonance-The Pottermouth Girls Visit The Red Room of Requirement We speak with Gwen and The Unicorn, champions of the Geeks Who Drink, masters of the Potter knowledge, and keepers of the words. Sam and Gil Friends old and new-ish we chat with the two love birds and hear the story of how they went from cubicle buddies to wedded bliss. It’s great fun to hear the different stories, the varying truths from two perspectives. The grown-ups tell it like it is. Honest, and quick to laugh, both Gil and Samantha offer up some great content. Really enjoyed this one. What a great time! We get our hopes up that they’ll come back. The American dream gets real in the small town of Sahuarita just south of the Dirty T. We meet Brando. Charlie and Mike’s close friend. Previously appearing in name, and now, in voice. We compare notes on the way we were introduced to David Lynch. We are enjoying the art of conversation, and move from pop culture to the ancient art of sword play. Brando drops some serious sword knowledge, I can’t spell or pronounce the art in which he is proficient. We talk about first readings of Dune and Political television and we come back to the man-child theme, video games and comics versus choo-choo trains, is one really more mature than the other? Funk makes an appearance in our lives. It’s usually a dark coffee bar, a dark booth in a local dive, or dark theatres, this time, Laura and I have a conversation in the red room which as you may know, is strangely well lit. We cover the challenge of going from introvert to dancer to the social butterfly to mom and during it all, a daring artist…Laura gives us the skinny on the Phoenix comic con, from the guy trying to attack the green ranger, to Jim Butcher (we’re sorry we’re impatient for your work), comic con burlesque…Additionally we love more of the things, and wistfully regret when we miss things we should’ve caught. Still working on getting the sound right, it’s tough, when the conversation gets going... Hopefully, as we’re still new at this it only gets better.
