Ruminating on a Sad Song ep 3 We rejoin Mr Tom Reynolds in Chapter 3 of his work, I hate myself and want to die, “I'm Trying to Be Profound and Touching, but Really Suck at It”. If we needed anymore proof that this book is tongue in cheek this has to be it. While Reynolds seemingly paints all of these odes to loss and misery as comical, I can’t help but still feel that he wouldn’t have zeroed in without some amount of sympathy….I think we’ve looked at these past songs with empathy and sympathy, and dug in a little to the heart of things, but still enjoyed a laugh or two as well. Besides laughter is the best medicine, next to whiskey. This chapter had a HUGE playlist so we’ve chosen to just pick our favorites and address those. Ruminations - on a Sad Song ep. 1 What is it about a sad song? Some of us only like them when we ourselves are feeling blue, others might seek them out regardless of their current mood. What makes a song really sad, and what factors contribute to getting that feeling across to the audience? We start our mini-series using Tom Reynolds 2005 book “I Hate Myself and Want to Die” as inspiration, guide-post, and subject of review. Ruminations - Ken and Kyle Once more with Feelings A couple weeks ago, we did a double dose of Ruminating in the Red Room. This is the second of those podcasts. Bonus Fan-Holiday Episode! Resonance - A New Return to the Last Empire of the Jedi Happy May the Fourth to all!!! Mike and Charlie Shine a Light Mike and I start us off with brief updates and how some of our daily operational tasks have changed. We picked up Charlie a little ways in, and we reflect on the latest Not-Doctor-recommended treatment possibilities for COVID-19. Throughout we keep the discussion going on making allowances for those with differing opinions, and express some of the frustration that can also create. Resonance- Why monsters? Mike and I chat about restoring car projects as teenagers, that didn’t work out.
