Ruminating On A Sad Song Ep 3
20/07/2020 Duração: 01h20minRuminating on a Sad Song ep 3 We rejoin Mr Tom Reynolds in Chapter 3 of his work, I hate myself and want to die, “I'm Trying to Be Profound and Touching, but Really Suck at It”. If we needed anymore proof that this book is tongue in cheek this has to be it. While Reynolds seemingly paints all of these odes to loss and misery as comical, I can’t help but still feel that he wouldn’t have zeroed in without some amount of sympathy….I think we’ve looked at these past songs with empathy and sympathy, and dug in a little to the heart of things, but still enjoyed a laugh or two as well. Besides laughter is the best medicine, next to whiskey. This chapter had a HUGE playlist so we’ve chosen to just pick our favorites and address those. The full list for our Ruminators out there playing along is as follows: “Round Here” Counting Crows 1994 “Lucky man” Emerson Lake and Palmer 1971 “Beth” KISS 1976 “MacArthur Park” Richard Harris 1968 (donna summer 1978) “Don’t Cry Out Loud” Melissa Manchester 1978 “In the Year 252

Ruminating On 3 Buttons And A Stick
18/06/2020 Duração: 01h16minRuminating on 3 Buttons and a Stick We turn geek mode on full blast, with some well deserved gushing, and reminiscing over the great Virtua Fighter series of video games. SEGA dropped this genre busting title on the world way back in 1993, and in this episode, Hoptimus, C-Trip, Anthony and JJJ talk early experience with the game, and what this 27 year love affair has meant, and why the fire still burns. Join the whole gang on Mixer when the crew gets rollin’ and watch their skills on display. Stay tuned for more info on where to put your peepers, so you can see if we can put our quarters where our mouths are…or something to that effect. Ruminations-Who Loves a Good Conspiracy?
15/06/2020 Duração: 01h08minRuminations on Good Ol’ Conspiracy Theories We needed a breather. The world seems on the verge of change. Anything not focused on the issues that face us, seems trivial. But we will try to take a moment and distract ourselves with some Ruminations Conspiracy Style. Kyle and Kenny weigh in on some of the most popular conspiracy theories in America. No, we don’t look at them scientifically, we don’t dissect them academically, and we don’t provide any kind of data supporting or refuting them….we just joke around, and try to have a laugh in a world where its seemingly harder and harder to find one. Listen to the end as Kenny drops some wisdom on embracing others theories, and we all come to a place where we know its really not a judgment its all in fun, and sometimes, we are all looking for something to believe in. Ruminations - on a Sad Song ep. 1
28/05/2020 Duração: 01h16minRuminations - on a Sad Song ep. 1 What is it about a sad song? Some of us only like them when we ourselves are feeling blue, others might seek them out regardless of their current mood. What makes a song really sad, and what factors contribute to getting that feeling across to the audience? We start our mini-series using Tom Reynolds 2005 book “I Hate Myself and Want to Die” as inspiration, guide-post, and subject of review. We start with Mr. Reynolds first chapter: I was a Teenage Car Crash. Please note that none of this is meant to take the serious nature of a sad song lightly. When first picking up the book, I expected a deeper dive into what made a sad song, what motivated the author of each track, maybe biographical info that gave us insight into the artist that was moved to pen their heartbreak, and set it to music. Like many times in life, we find the laughs to make it through the pain… The episode starts with a harrowing tale of Mike and an alley fire… Finding the solace in a sad song is

Ruminations - Blurinations From the Red Room; Reboot vs Sequel
21/05/2020 Duração: 01h16minRuminations with drinks in hand.... Well, you can only keep a lid on it for so long. We needed to cut loose and talk about something other than THAT right now. We gather from multiple points around this great nation, and revisit a couple great topics that have been breezed over before. Original vs sequel vs reboot vs remake….are they all just cash grabs? How are they different from a cover song? What makes a good cover song for that matter ? Too many drinks or maybe just enough it’s Silliness From the Red Room. Enjoy. Resonance - A New Return To The Last Empire Of The Jedi
04/05/2020 Duração: 01h14minBonus Fan-Holiday Episode! Resonance - A New Return to the Last Empire of the Jedi Happy May the Fourth to all!!! We meet up with our heroes as they convene to pay tribute to a property they love; that many, many people love. Star Wars. A topic we’ve chatted about before here, and as we take a moment to discuss how the End of the Saga resonates with each of our guests, we also look to what the franchise could become, what we think about the current direction, and the state of that galaxy far, far, away. We were graced with Mike (Arvig), Charlie (CCC), James (JJJ) and Mike (Hoptimus) in the Virtual Red Room, and had an amazing time….My journey began, as family legend tells, at less than 1 year old, as my parents took a sleeping baby to see The Star Wars. I awoke during the cantina scene, and uttered not a peep, but remained transfixed at what played out on the screen; and in many ways, I am still transfixed, still a fan. We hope your May 4th is filled with wonder and joy, that can all set aside the less

03/05/2020 Duração: 01h08minMike and Charlie Shine a Light Mike and I start us off with brief updates and how some of our daily operational tasks have changed. We picked up Charlie a little ways in, and we reflect on the latest Not-Doctor-recommended treatment possibilities for COVID-19. Throughout we keep the discussion going on making allowances for those with differing opinions, and express some of the frustration that can also create. We are pretty much caught up, and as Corona Virus Disease 19 becomes more and more a part of our daily lives, we look forward to times when we can change up the discussion a bit, and remind ourselves there is a lot for which to be thankful. Surprise mentions in this episode; Kid n Play, and a shout out to Tucson Local Eegees. What big chain or even mom and pop recipe do you guys wish you could execute at home? Stay safe, stay sane, for goodness sakes stay 6 feet apart, and keep a light on….for many reasons. Reflections: Twin Peaks-The Return observations, and impressions Ruminations: Wandering

Ruminations - Weird Stories, And A First Time Guest
08/03/2019 Duração: 57minWe start the conversation with a look at the way we may have been viewed by our childhood friends’ parents. Did the adults in your youth love you? Hate you? Ignore you? Maybe they just tolerated you. The main theme of the evening was bizarre and entertaining stories from the news. Of course we stray off as we relate those stories to our own experiences. Including some fun tattoo stories. Join us as we welcome Danielle M into the Red Room for the first time, and drop some giggles along the way. Resonance- Sean Of The (Grateful) Dead
24/01/2019 Duração: 35minIn this episode of From the Red Room, we let the resonance of a life of loving music, bring a musician back to his instrument. Finding new meaning, and connecting to a band and their work, through meaning, and intent, Sean takes us on a journey of rediscovery…I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again here; there is magic, and soul in music that is beyond words. We make lifelong friends of our musician heroes and they see us through much, often narrating our lives. Every musician has a story and a motivation. The muse finds us at different times, and states of mind and heart. It is always refreshing, and rewarding when we express our art. Go out and create. We also touch on separating art from the artist and what makes an artist stand the test of time. Resonance- Star Wars, Friends, Marvel at DC pt 2
24/01/2019 Duração: 01h04minWe dissect the evolution of serial tv and movies; and chat about the education, and intelligence of the audience. We make our way from HBO to Friends (singing praises of David Schwimmer) and make our way back to Robotech, which makes an appearance. We’re still talking about DC and Marvel. Why? Aside from the obvious nerd obsessive behavior, what is it about loving and hating, and loving to hate or hating to love our heroes that keeps this discourse alive? As adult nerds of a certain age are prone to do; Star Wars, Luke Skywalker and further force theories rear their heads. What really killed Luke? Join us, just fans, yammering about stuff that matters, as we further celebrate the mass success of the things we loved as kids. #friends #rossgellar #starwarsstories #popPodcast #whatkilledluke #theForce #spoilers Reflections: Twin Peaks-The Return observations, and impressions Ruminations: Wandering thoughts, ideas, and conversations that enjoy the journey over the destinations Reminiscence: Tales of fr

Resonance - Why Monsters?
17/11/2018 Duração: 01h04minResonance- Why monsters? Mike and I chat about restoring car projects as teenagers, that didn’t work out. Camping and just hitting the road, momentarily dreaming of touring the Arizona beauty from a bike. As the evening moved on, we then hit our topic of monsters. It was a mild Halloween night, and we wanted to continue the discussion from previous ‘cast, and address our feelings on the origins of our monsters and fear. Later in the evening, we get treated to the return of Justin, always with great contributions and perspective. What parts of monster lore and legend do you enjoy? Or not enjoy? Why do you keep it spooky? Do you think we need monsters? Resonance-Lashing out (in the name of passion)
25/06/2018 Duração: 01h23minPassion. It comes up in The Red Room often. We chase it. We try to define it. We seek it’s origins, and motivations. The best examples, in nearly any given field, or endeavor, are always cited as being as such, because of passion. The Red Room welcomes new guest YouTube star to be Lash Larue. Mike, Lash, and I dig into the topic as best as we can, and along the way we have a good time talking about games, music, our careers in retail,A.I…..as usual, the conversation is organic, and we just enjoy the journey.
