Welding is not only a profession for Lashanna but also a part of her heritage. Her grandfather was a self-taught welder during the World War II era, while her distant great-grandfather was a blacksmith welder in the slave trade. Lashanna has continued her family legacy of welders and pipefitters by disassembling World War II ships in Mare Island Vallejo, California, where her great-grandmother initially helped build. Janelle Hatch is a Master Electrician who is the small business owner of QB Electric LLC and a  Power Plant Operator at JEA, a city-owned Municipality in Jacksonville, Florida. Janelle is a  graduate of an IBEW apprenticeship, a Federal recognized program and a graduate of Flagler  College with a Bachelors in Public Administration. March 5 was the start of Women in Construction Week. Running until March 11, 2023 Growing up in East New York, Brooklyn, Nephetia always knew that she would be a successful professional and decide to steer her attention into becoming an electrical apprentice in March 2007.  Working for Local 3, IBEW , she was trained and taught the trade and became a Journeywoman in March 2018.  Nephetia took advantage of the opportunity and gained certifications in Solar paneling, electrical wiring, communications and project management, just to name a few.  Most recently, Nephetia added author to her resume! Her first book has received five stars and best seller notoriety on Amazon. It is titled, ‘ Rebuilding After Divorce’.
