As part of Memorial Day weekend, we will remember the sacrifice of so many for our nation"s freedom. And as we take communion, we"ll also reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus for all, including His enemies, to provide true, eternal freedom.

The American Dream… It’s the crucial thread of our country’s tapestry, woven throughout the promises of our politics, workforce, and culture. We’re the land of opportunity and limitless possibilities for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is where hard work and dedication bring success, economic well-being, and the good life. But has the humanness of inflated expectations and promises steered us off track? Has the dream turned into mostly a desire for material success? And what do we do when God’s dream is at odds with the American dream?

Reaching out to others with the good news of God’s grace is central to following Christ. Whether our mission is reaching across the room or around the world, people will not hear of God’s love unless we tell them. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved from the punishment of sin. But how can they call on Him if they have not put their trust in Him? And how can they put their trust in Him if they have not heard of Him? And how can they hear of Him unless someone tells them? And how can someone tell them if he is not sent? (Romans 10:13-15a)
