Paul lays out every spiritual blessing we are given in Christ from Ephesians 1:3 all the way to 1:14. (This passage is a single sentence in the original language.) In session two, we unpacked the meaning behind these blessings. We have everything we need in Christ to live a godly life. Before the world was made, God chose for us to be made holy and blameless through Christ. Where we were dead in our sins, He adopted us to new life as sons and daughters. We’ve been purchased or redeemed through Christ’s blood shed on our behalf. We are given wisdom and understanding of God’s will. He gives us the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Our hope of heaven is guaranteed. We are incredibly blessed.

Entering our 23rd season of ministry, there is plenty to look back on and celebrate. God is doing amazing things, and we’re grateful to have many amazing opportunities to join Him. But we can’t dwell for too long, as our vision, mission, and values are still firmly guided by the greatest of commandments and commissions, and we have work still to do. Change is inevitable. The why and what may not have changed, but perhaps the how, when, and where are being transformed.

Sometimes the grind of life, the busyness of our culture, and the overwhelming commitment to activity cause a slow drift towards spiritual emptiness, and an aching sense that we haven’t felt God’s presence in a long time. But that’s not His desire for us. Romans 12 is a small section of scripture where the Apostle Paul lays out some of the most vital truths of our faith. In its 21 verses God gives us a clear picture of what it means to be a Christian.
