It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so the old song goes. Yet it doesn’t feel that way when our days are most often marked by frenzied busyness, increased disparity, and a divided culture. When it seems like everyone wants change, and is desperate for hope. But what if it’s already arrived, and our world is looking in all the wrong places? Jesus, the Messiah, Immanuel (God with us) came into the despair and pain of our world as a light in the darkness, giving us hope, love, joy, and peace. It was everything the anxious world needed, and still is today. It’s the essence of Christmas and the ingredients of Advent.
