For The Generation

Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! We hope that you are ready to tackle these next few weeks. In this episode, JC, Memo, and Megan uncover the struggles and strengths of being a first-gen student. They talk about the issues of imposter syndrome and survivors' guilt and how to overcome them as they are common attributes of being a first-gen. They also discuss the cultural capital that first-gen students have as well as other strengths and skills that come with this identity. Megan shares her experience and knowledge of how to deal with these issues and the skills that she has gained. These topics are found within the struggles of being a first gens. It's important to have these conversations so that other first gens can identify these symptoms. We want to create awareness of the struggles and celebrate the advantages and tools that they create on their own.
