In the first two chapters of the Gospel of Matthew, which tell of the birth of Jesus, our Savior is given four titles. In Matthew 1:21, He is called "Jesus" which means "the Lord to save." In verse 23 He is called "Emmanuel" which means "God with us." Chapter 2 verse 2 describes Jesus as the "King," and in verse 4, Matthew calls Jesus "the Christ" or the Messiah/Anointed One. All four names give us a different perspective of hope, and how the birth of Jesus changed (and still changes) the perspective of mankind.
