Sinopse
The New York Mets carried over the momentum from their walk-off win Sunday afternoon and their offense led the way in an 8-3 win over the San Diego Padres. It was a fast start for the Mets, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning capped off by a Brett Baty two-run home run. Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor also added home runs, as the offense poured it on. Pitching wise, we got our first look at the new piggyback situation between Clay Holmes and Sean Manaea. And it went about as well as the Mets could have hoped. Clay Holmes gave the Mets four solid innings as the starter, but more importantly they got quality stuff from Manaea out of the bullpen. David Peterson takes the ball for the Mets tomorrow as they look to keep the rest of the wild card hopefuls at bay another day.
