The Passover feast was established by God to the Israelites in the time of Moses. It was a symbol of the Lord's deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The feast was celebrated each year to remember the Lord's faithfulness and provision. The Passover feast had a number of components, including the sacrificing of a lamb, the eating of unleavened bread, and the drinking of wine. All of these components had great symbolic meaning in the Passover feast. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is seen as fulfilling each of these components of the Passover feast. Jesus is seen as the ultimate Passover Lamb, whose sacrificial death was the fulfillment of the Old Testament sacrificial system. In the Book of John, Jesus refers to himself as the "bread from heaven" and the "true bread of life." In doing so, he is referring to the unleavened bread that was part of the Passover feast.
