NABWIC Talks with Monique Owens, Comedian, Entrepreneur and Politician  Monique Owens has always been a social justice trailblazer. Serving her community is no stranger to her.  Serving as a Police Officer for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department for over 10 years made her more aware of the challenges we face as a community and how our society is affected by our environment, economic status, race and education. Her love for seeing other people excel and be successful led to her role as a professional Comedienne.  Bringing people together with social issues and awareness through laughter allowed her to travel the world and reach others.  In 2014, She auditioned for “Showtime at the Apollo” and won.  In 2015, she started her own talent agency called “Naturally Funny Talent Agency, LLC” to provide comedy entertainment and also guide new comedians on what to expect in the business of entertainment.
