We live in a world of never enough. We work more to earn more to buy more, new, or next, believing this is the path to happiness. But the consumer world has consumed us, leaving us tired, dissatisfied, and disillusioned. One of the early church’s irresistible qualities was its extravagant generosity. Tertullian, a 2nd-century North African church father, wrote, “It is our care of the helpless, our practice of loving kindness that brands us in the eyes of our opponents.” How do we break free from the tyranny of never enough?
