This week on Access Louisville we talk about the loss of Insider Louisville. The nonprofit news organization announced it would cease publication on Aug. 7. While Insider was a competitor to Business First, we talk about why this closure is bad news for the city. Fewer news organizations mean fewer eyes and ears keeping tabs on businesses and public officials. While we're on the topic, we also discuss the journalism business as a whole — everything from paywalls to what keeps young people interested in the business. 

The Topgolf saga continues in Louisville.The Dallas-based company has been facing a challenge from neighbors on its plan to build one of its driving range venues at Oxmoor Center. Earlier this week we reported that the neighbors would appeal a legal decision that would have allowed the construction to go forward.So now what? That's one subject of discussion on this week's Access Louisville. 

There's a lot of excitement around Louisville's startup scene — but also a lot of questions.That was punctuated this week after we began digging into the quiet merger of the Louisville Entrepreneur Acceleration Partnership, called LEAP, and EnterpriseCorp, the entrepreneurial arm of Greater Louisville Inc. On this week's Access Louisville podcast we spoke to reporter Haley Cawthon about the unusual sourcing of a story about this merger. And we chat about her impressions of the startup scene in Louisville.
