It's always impressive when a collegiate group hits their 20th anniversary - and MEMO is doing it in style. They have concerts, videos, recordings - all kinds of projects in the works. We talk about it all, and hear them sing some of their current music for us! Recorded in 2016.

While in the Atlanta area, we invited Georgia Tech's Nothin' But Treble, a treble-voiced group, into the mobile studio to talk about their history as well as how they are making music today. We also heard some of their current music, as they sang for us! Recorded in late 2016.

We invited the University of Virginia Virginia Belles into the mobile studio to talk about their distinctiveness in a crowded UVA a cappella scene, and also about all the things they have in the hopper, including some recording. They sang some of their current music for us as well. Recorded in late 2016.

We were happy for barbershop quartet Square One to join us - while together, we talked about the problems of naming, the development of a quartet's sound, and what's in the future for the guys. Recorded in late 2016.

The James Madison University Low Key has been busy - most recently, releasing their album Meraki. We talk with them about that process, from rep choice to laying down tracks, and about the other things they have going on right now. They also were kind enough to sing us some of their tunes! While in North Carolina, we invited Psalm 100 into our mobile studio to talk about their vibe as a group, their process for selecting music from the wide array of religious tunes out there, and what they're up to these days. The group was also gracious enough to sing some of their current music for us. Recorded in late 2016.

While at a Barbershop Harmony Society convention, we sat down with the guys of the Blue Skies Quartet from the Seattle, Washington area, to talk about how they came together to form up, what kinds of music they're gravitating toward, and what's ahead. While at the University of North Carolina, we were delighted to invite the Loreleis into the mobile studio to sing some songs from their current rep and tell us about the backstory of the group. We talked about the pros and cons of single-gender groups, and about the scene at UNC. Recorded in 2016.

While in the mobile studio with the University of Virginia Academical Village People, we talked with them about their backstory as a group, their plans for the next year or two, and everything in between. We also invited the group to sing for us, which they graciously did. Recorded in 2016.

We invited the Oakland University Gold Vibrations from Michigan about concerts, touring, recording, festivals - the whole bunch! We also heard the origin story of the group and talked about what's ahead. Recorded in 2016.

We had a great time bringing the guys of Rutgers University Casual Harmony into the mobile studio - we talked about how they make decisions as a group on everything from admitting new singers to selecting music, about how they spend their time together, and more. We had a chance to bring the University of Massachusetts Dynamics into the mobile studio to talk about their upcoming recording release, how they determine when it's time to record and what goes on an album, and what kind of music they're singing these days. The members of The A cappella Group (TAG) from Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida, are talented and thoughtful musicians. We talk about their work on original music, on the value of recording, and more - and they sing us some tunes! Recorded in 2016.

While in New York, we were happy to welcome Empire, a post-collegiate group based in the city, into the mobile studio. We talked with them about how the group got started, recruiting new members, and balancing the group with other life demands. We also recorded them singing us some tunes! Recorded in 2016.

We talked with the Boston University BosTones about how the group got started, then moved to what they're working on now, from preparing for competition to performances to touring. We discuss their sound and vibe as a group these days, and hear them share some of it as they sing for us. Recorded in 2016.

The demands of a semi-pro post-collegiate group can be great, and the closer you get to being a pro group, the greater they can be. We talk with Ball In The House about those trade-offs, and how they manage them. We also talk about performances vs. competition, and about how they keep things fresh with so many performance dates a year. They sound great singing some songs for us, too! Recorded in 2016.

Bay Area post-collegiate group Halfway to Midnight joined us in the mobile studio to talk about their experiences forming the group, competing together in the Harmony Sweepstakes (at the National Finals!), and all the other things they're working on right now.
