This morning, the Global Arts and Theology Experience Team was with us just a few days before they host the Beyonce Mass at Stanford's Memorial Church. Rev. Yolanda Norton and Luisa Dantier offered a spoken and sung word performance with the voices of black women and the song from A Color Purple, "I am Here." This Sunday, we were honored to host Rev. Dr. Tiffany Steinwert, Dean of Spiritual and Religious Life at Stanford University preaching on Hope Amid Suffering and reflecting on Jeremiah 17:5-10 and the work of Austin Channing Brown. Today's worship service was the first in our February series, "Intersections" which will feature black women authors during Black History Month. Today we listened to Amanda Gorman in reflection on the story of Jesus taking the disciples out fishing in Luke 5:1-11. Music included Ezra Costanza on viola, Malcolm Jones on vocals, Barbary Grant as lead musician. Ginger Holt and Asher Allen were liturgists. Rev. Jenny Warner preaching.

We are excited to celebrate, bless and hear from Andrew Quick and Ashley Pogue this morning. Since they were last at VPC, they've been joined by baby Maisy. Ashley grew up at VPC and worked as our youth director. Andrew taught at the Theater Conservatory for several years. They are taking the next step in their journey this coming week as Andrew begins his first ordained call as pastor at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in San Rafael.

Rev. Dr. Zandra Jordan preached from Atlanta for this Sunday morning service. Katie Koenig provided piano selections for our prelude and postlude.

The first service of 2022 went online only after a few staff members tested positive for Covid and others were out on vacation. Thanks to Barbary Grant, Amy Worden, Darlene Batchelder and Cindy Liu for pulling it off and Nate Millheim of Oakland for preaching.

This service on December 19, 2021 began outside where participants sang Christmas carols, led by Barbary Grant on ukulele. This gave time for the orchestra and choirs of VPC + Ladera Community Church to prepare for their collaborative musical offering, "The Seven Joys of Christmas." Rev. Jenny Warner share a brief meditation after the performance.
