It's lovable rogue week on the Geekdown as Jord and Cait swap eerily synchronous landmarks of their individual geekeries, starting with the young Hayao Miyazaki's take on master thief Lupin III in "The Castle of Cagliostro," then getting swept away on the handlebars of the charm bicycle that is the classic Newman/Redford Western "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid." In January 2016, Jordan asked his good friend Caitlin to start a nerdy podcast with him. Over the next 52 weeks the duo were run out of a library, grew closer as friends, sweated their literal and metaphorical balls off and watched more anime and UKTV than either of them probably wanted to. And there's no way they'd rather spend their first anniversary than by answering your questions. Their shotgun lack of planning had nothing to do with it, they assure you. Shorter episode this week as Cait and Jord settle in for a watch party of "The Good Place," the sitcom about ethics and morality that recently wrapped its first season from the folks that brought you "Parks and Rec" and "Brooklyn 99." We're still on vacation! Because we felt like it! We thought we'd take the holiday to spend some time with another show everyone else has already exhausted, HBO's scifi puzzle box Westworld. We also talk about the additional philosophical differences between us we've noticed since starting the show, the perils and benefits of deep diving, and why nothing good ever comes of seeing Ed Harris. This year was the drizzling shits, no one can deny that. But it wasn't without some things that brought us joy, so Sunshine Bubbles and Scarlet Ember are looking back on the first year of the Geekdown to pick the top three things they were brought this year, the best thing they watched together and the single worst thing they were forced to sit through. For all the ways 2016 was less than ideal, it's also the year we started this show, and we're continually humbled and grateful for all of you who listen to us natter on. Here's to the new year.
