Mum’s the word this week as the Top 4 turn their moms and sisters into drag family members. Divina is having a divine time of it with her sister, The Vivienne’s mom showed up in camo, the Chipz are down for Baga and the Holes must navigate some pitfalls in costuming. While Sacka Spuds emerges as the unlikely BSA, we also spend some time recognizing the true mom of Drag Race—Michelle Visage—and exploring the nuances of our own relationships with our mothers, and most importantly, what kind of drag we’d put them in. Things get a bit slippery for this week’s commercial challenge. The final five are selling branded water to the masses and spilling scalding tea in the workroom. Divina is feeling salty over The Viv’s shallow opinion of her, Blu might be in over her head, Baga’s getting a bit swampy, and Cheryl is keen to make a splash in front of her namesake. The judges’ decisions may not have left us drippin’, but the humanity of what happened offstage was certainly refreshing. The cornerstone of a Drag Race competition is finally here (and wow, did it make a splash in the pond): Snatch Game! The Vivienne trumped them all while Baga Chipz stayed strong as iron, Blu Hydrangea’s runway was eye-opening while her snatch game character was blue, and Crystal’s Rue wasn’t so clear. Reduce, reuse, revolt! The monsters are turning trash into fashion this week and making magic happen with markers for makeup. Priscilla has a moment interrupted by Hollow having a moment before rising to the top of the trash heap in the floor show (and interview with Season 2 pizza queen/calzone queen Disasterina!) But the real drama was what we didn’t see re: Hollow’s censored look and subsequent meltdown, bringing up a lot of questions around what’s allowed on TV and what is an apparent nightmare for all platforms.
