External things – such as having the law and circumcision – don’t mark one as a true member of God’s people and so don’t protect from judgement and the wrath of God. Only an internal transformation – the circumcision of the heart by the Spirit – marks one as part of God’s people and so saved from judgement and wrath. It’s what’s inside that counts.

Aled Cousins reminds us of how Jesus, the righteous judge and our defender, has already served our sentence on the cross. This should motivate us to love, encourage and share God's gospel with all who are in desperate need of it.

Paul is eager to preach the gospel because he is not ashamed of it as he knows that it is God’s power for salvation in which the righteousness of God is revealed. If we want to become more missional, we also need to be unashamed of the gospel.

What stands out to you in the passage? We see that God’s of His spirit in all that believe, God has done everything possible to give everyone a seat at the table. Often we can be selective of who we spend time with – maybe because they are like us or can offer us something – but Jesus demonstrates that true love and community is best demonstrated in how many people are invited to your table. What’s the main point? God’s heart from the beginning is that everyone would come to the knowledge of the truth and find a place at His table. At God’s table, we find love, community and an understanding of who we truly are. What would it look like if Christians apply this main point, or follow this principle, in their lives today? Someone once said that love is spelt t.i.m.e. It is not possible to love, honour, support and encourage others without giving the time to do it. The Passover lambs act as a substitute for the firstborn of God’s people. Though they too deserve to receive the final plague, God allows them to kill a lamb in their place. For us, Jesus is the great substitute who ensures our salvation. But also important in the story of the Passover is the need to actively remember this salvation. God gives several ways the Israelites can do this, just as Jesus has for us.

In this preach we see that salvation includes the defeat of Gods enemies which reveals Gods sovereign rule over all. God has authority and victory over Pharaoh and the gods of Egypt, he is far above all claimed rivals. Jesus victory on the cross also demonstrates Gods utter sovereignty over all. He has triumphed over all the powers that seek to oppose him and one day every knee will bow before him.

We see from scripture that God not only sees and hears the cry of His people, but his compassion leads him to action. In Moses, He uses the seemingly weak, to demonstrate his wonders tot he world. The great i am, the unchanging one who made a promise generations before has come to free His people.

In Matthew 24-25 Jesus teaches about the future. The chapters are complex, but the overall message is clear: One day Jesus will return, judge all people and inaugurate the new age. Jesus doesn’t give his followers a timetable for when this will happen, but rather explains that it could happen at any point and, therefore, we are to live ever ready for his return.
